Some clients return to the same symptoms no matter how well they understand them. Tension, pain, dysregulation and shutdown persist long after the story has been told — because the experience is held in the body as much as in the mind.
What ISN Is
Integrative Somatic Narrative (ISN) therapy is an approach developed by Dr Anthony Wong through his doctoral research and clinical practice. It joins body-based (somatic) methods with narrative reconstruction so that meaning-making and physiological regulation are worked with together rather than in sequence.
It was designed specifically for complex trauma and for persistent, treatment-resistant presentations — including psychosomatic conditions.
Why It Matters
Conventional talk therapy can reach the narrative but leave the nervous system untouched. Purely somatic work can settle the body but leave the story unresolved. ISN bridges the two, giving you a structured way to move between narrative and body within a single session.
Level 1 establishes the foundations — the model, its core techniques, and how to begin applying it responsibly with your own clients.
